About the role

Help shape the airworthiness and certification of one of the ADF's most important rotary-wing platforms.

If you are an aerospace, structural or design engineer with Part 21J, airworthiness or certification experience, we can support your progression into a recognised Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) authority role.

You will provide independent technical authority for the UH-60M platform—verifying engineering artefacts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and guiding engineering teams through certification and structural integrity processes.

This role is suited to an engineer who holds, or is close to holding, the qualifications and experience required for CVE appointment.

Key responsibilities

  • Independently verify compliance demonstration documents including design definitions, analyses, manuals, test plans and test results.
  • Approve revisions to technical manuals requiring DASA approval.
  • Provide authoritative technical advice across aircraft structures, systems and certification.
  • Support aircraft certification as a project engineer, including dependent checking, oversight and technical quality control.
  • Mentor junior engineers in structural analysis, certification processes and airworthiness fundamentals.
  • Manage tasking and priorities within a complex Defence engineering environment.
  • Contribute to configuration baselines and high-quality engineering artefacts.

About you

You are an experienced aerospace, structural or design engineer with strong airworthiness, certification or Part 21J knowledge. You enjoy solving complex engineering problems, ensuring safety, and helping others grow in their technical careers.

Essential

  • Bachelor of Engineering (AQF Level 7 or equivalent).
  • Aeronautical design engineering experience with structural expertise.
  • Airworthiness, certification or DASR Part 21J experience.
  • Experience reviewing engineering artefacts for compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems/subsystems and configuration management.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Understanding of aircraft system safety in complex systems.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior engineers.
  • Holds, or is close to holding, the qualifications and experience required for CVE appointment.

Highly desirable

  • Prior involvement in dependent checking or airworthiness compliance processes (Defence aviation or civil DOA).
  • Experience supporting Army or rotary-wing certification programs.
  • Structural integrity or stress analysis experience.
