We are expanding our Engineering and Asset Management team in Queensland, specifically in Fortitude Valley or Mackay, to strengthen our digital capabilities and enhance regional project delivery.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Data Analyst to support advanced analytics, AI integration, and remote sensing workflows for infrastructure performance and lifecycle optimisation. This role will support BIA's growing need for data-driven insights by managing and analysing large datasets—including spatial, visual, and sensor data—and embedding these insights into engineering decisions.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain data pipelines for spatial, sensor, and asset management datasets.

· Cleanse and analyse data from Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) systems, drone inspections, and other unmanned vehicle-based or remote sensing technologies.

· Build interactive dashboards using Power BI and Python/Excel for reporting and decision-making.

· Integrate AI/ML models to support predictive analytics and asset degradation forecasting.

· Collaborate with engineers to deliver actionable intelligence across structural, civil, and maritime domains.

· Support spatial data analysis and geospatial modelling for condition assessments and infrastructure planning.

· Ensure data quality, documentation, and version control in all deliverables.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

· 2–4 years of experience in a data analytics role, preferably in engineering or infrastructure environments.

· Experienced in Python, SQL, and Power BI.

· Exposure to spatial data platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and geospatial tools.

· Familiarity with SHM systems, IoT sensor data, and drone/UAV imagery analysis workflows.

· Understanding of AI or machine learning concepts, particularly in asset analytics.

· Excellent communication skills and ability to translate data insights into engineering actions.

Desirable Attributes

· Experience working with engineering consultancies, government clients, or contractors.

· Familiarity with data from ERP, SCADA, or project management systems.

· Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS) and DevOps tools (e.g. Git, Docker).

· Strong initiative, ability to work independently, and commitment to innovation.
