About the Role
Join our team as a Shift Manager, where you'll lead the daily operations of our paper manufacturing process during your shift. As the primary contact outside business hours, you will be accountable for executing the production schedule, ensuring safety, quality, and environmental compliance, while providing strong people leadership. This role is crucial for maintaining safe and efficient operations and serves as the delegate for the Production Manager.

A day in the life… Shift Manager
Reporting to the Mill Head, key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Execute the production plan and achieve manufacturing targets.
- Lead and coordinate shift operations, including workforce planning, attendance, and overtime management.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for production personnel.
- Oversee equipment isolation processes, conduct job safety analyses (JSAs), and lead toolbox talks.
- Manage and respond to on-shift incidents related to safety, quality, or the environment.
- Serve as the Site Fire Warden and uphold site security protocols.
- Log downtime accurately in the factory floor information system to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, HR, Maintenance) to enhance shift operations.
What will make you successful
Essential:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or shift leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, equipment operations, and safety practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and engage teams across shifts.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., Kronos) and plant monitoring/data logging systems.
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols and site security measures.
- Competency in JSA facilitation and permit-to-work systems.
Desirable:
- Trade qualification or tertiary education in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
- Fire Warden and First Aid certification.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
- SAP experience.
