Why You Will Be Excited About This Role

At Healius, we all have one thing in common, we are passionate about making a difference to the health of Australians. And right now it's an exciting time to join us.

About Us

Healius employs 8,000+ passionate people, with an expansive network of over 100 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.

We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia's largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities.

This means that you will be working with purpose whilst being a part of a business big enough to offer interstate mobility, job security and opportunities to fulfill your career ambitions.

What You Will Be Doing

In this national leadership role, you will:

  • Lead workforce planning by forecasting demand, analysing trends, and building data-driven resourcing plans (short and long-term).
  • Oversee national rostering, ensuring timely, accurate, and cost-effective rosters (reduce gaps of overstaffing) that align with operational needs, compliance requirements, and staff wellbeing.
  • Develop and maintain productivity benchmarks across the national network, ensuring staffing levels are fair, efficient, and aligned with operational and strategic goals.
  • Lead productivity improvement and workforce optimisation projects, identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and operational efficiencies while engaging stakeholders across the business.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Operations, HR, Payroll, and Finance to deliver integrated workforce solutions.
  • Ensure compliance and mitigate risk, aligning rosters with EBAs, Awards, Fair Work, and fatigue management policies.
  • Provide leadership and direction to overcome intricate rostering issues, ensuring clarity and alignment

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Deliver data-driven, future-ready workforce plans that adapt to operational needs through Regional Collections Managers.
  • Ensure rosters are on time, cost-effective, and aligned with business requirements.
  • Continuously review and enhance rostering systems and workforce processes.
  • Guarantee all workforce activities meet compliance, industrial relations, and regulatory standards.

What Type of Person Will Be Successful

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on leader who can balance workforce design with operational execution.

You will bring:

  • Extensive workforce management experience (ideally 20+ years) across multi-site, high-volume industries such as retail, FMCG, hospitality, or healthcare.
  • Proven success in implementing labour models, payroll budgeting, staff scheduling, and productivity optimisation across national networks.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial relations, EBAs, and workforce compliance frameworks.
  • Track record in leading centralised rostering and workforce support teams, including industrial engineers and productivity specialists.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo constructively, forging strong business relationships and delivering measurable cost and efficiency savings.
  • A passion for leading and coaching others to lift capability and deliver sustainable results.
  • A solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver practical outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing customer-focused workforce initiatives that improve service delivery, efficiency, and employee engagement.
