About the Business

Our Closing the Gap Policy and Transformation team provides strategic policy advice and drives the transformational change required to implement the National Agreement on Closing the Gap within DHS and ultimately improve life outcomes for Aboriginal peoples, their families and communities.

Role Details

The Senior Principal Policy Officer is role within Community and Aboriginal Partnerships and is accountable to the Director, Closing the Gap Policy and Transformation for:

  • Supporting, influencing and partnering with the Department's business units to embed the four Closing the Gap Priority Reforms and building staff capability to deliver actions to improve the socio-economic outcomes the Department has responsibility over.
  • Providing strategic advice, analysis on proposals, reports, policy and programs and research that affects Aboriginal people and services under Closing the Gap.
  • Assisting in monitoring and reporting on Closing the Gap progress and coordination of the Department's Closing the Gap reporting responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Building key working relationships across Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations and government and non-government stakeholders.
