What You'll Do
As a Finance Analyst based in Adelaide CBD on a 3-6 month contract, you will immerse yourself in a variety of challenging yet rewarding tasks designed to strengthen the organisation's financial performance. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you supporting pricing activities by developing detailed cost models and providing actionable insights through rigorous financial analysis. You will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of data integrity by coordinating data cleansing initiatives and ensuring all information is accurate for decision-making purposes. By collaborating with colleagues across different departments, you will help identify operational efficiencies while contributing your expertise to major projects such as business case development or system enhancements. Your ability to communicate complex findings clearly will empower stakeholders at all levels to make informed choices that benefit both immediate priorities and long-term goals. This role is ideal if you thrive in environments where your analytical acumen is matched by opportunities for professional growth and meaningful contribution.
- Provide expert advice and assistance to the Pricing Manager on reviewing, analysing, and implementing proposed annual pricing changes that align with organisational objectives.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across finance, corporate functions, and business units to identify efficiencies and develop effective solutions for ongoing challenges.
- Develop, implement, coordinate, and maintain efficient activity data collection and data cleansing processes with a strong emphasis on improving data quality for costing purposes.
- Proactively identify factors likely to impact financial performance and offer timely advice to ensure optimal outcomes for the organisation.
- Manage the cost model by completing annual updates and acting as the primary point of contact for information requests supporting business needs.
- Undertake comprehensive financial analysis and provide commercial advice to stakeholders to assist in developing business cases, conducting in-depth reviews, and scenario modelling.
- Contribute expert insights to financial projects, business cases, and initiatives so that stakeholders can make well-informed decisions based on accurate data.
- Maintain and monitor financial systems while identifying opportunities for process improvements that enhance service delivery within the finance division.
- Plan and execute projects, research assignments, and investigations while offering support to relevant business projects such as financial system changes.
- Engage regularly with senior executives, directors, finance teams, and other key personnel to foster collaborative relationships that drive successful project outcomes.
What You Bring
To excel as a Finance Analyst in this contract role, you will bring proven experience from similar positions where your analytical mindset has enabled you to deliver high-quality financial models and reports that inform critical business decisions. Your background should include hands-on involvement with large datasets—cleansing, collating, auditing—and transforming them into actionable insights using tools such as Excel or Power BI. You are adept at navigating complex organisational structures while building positive relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Your approach combines attention to detail with an ability to see the bigger picture when advising on cost allocation strategies or supporting project delivery. A degree in Accounting or Economics underpins your technical proficiency; additional certifications such as CA or CPA are welcomed but not essential. Importantly, your interpersonal skills allow you to communicate findings clearly while respecting cultural sensitivities within the workplace. If you have experience with Microsoft SQL or DAX it will further enhance your contribution.
- Demonstrated experience in business analysis, financial modelling, and implementing cost allocation techniques within large organisations where concise reporting is essential.
- Proven track record coordinating data cleansing, collation, and auditing processes using advanced Excel skills alongside platforms like Power BI to transform raw data into clear information for decision-makers.
- Comprehensive knowledge of managing financial models and databases using various modelling and reporting tools; familiarity with public sector program activities or government policies is highly regarded.
- Ability to undertake thorough research, analyse complex problems, exercise sound judgement, and recommend appropriate solutions tailored to organisational needs.
- Capacity to work dependably both independently under limited supervision as well as collaboratively within teams—balancing workloads effectively against tight deadlines without compromising quality standards.
- Understanding of Aboriginal Culture and Community with sensitivity towards diversity in workplace interactions.
- Degree qualification in Accounting, Economics or equivalent experience demonstrating strong foundation knowledge in core finance principles.
- CA or CPA designation is desirable but not mandatory; candidates actively pursuing these qualifications are encouraged to apply.
