ABOUT THE ROLE

The Compliance Lead – QLD is an integral position in the AFL Queensland team; working closely with the state-based Competition Managers. The role is responsible for providing advice and support relating to all compliance, tribunal and integrity issues in QLD, along with leading investigations relating to match day environments.

This is a great opportunity to be part of AFL in Queensland and contribute to compliance in community Aussie Rules football. If you're someone who has previous experience in compliance and investigations and have an interest in footy, this role might be for you

Please note this is a max-term opportunity until approximately end of January 2027.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Implement and apply standard National Community Football Guidelines (rules, regulations, policies) in the local market
  • Relationship management of affiliates in Queensland (Mt Isa and AFL Cairns)
  • Manage all Tribunal matters and ensure the tribunals are delivered in line with national policy and process
  • Work with national AFL Integrity on all integrity matters in Queensland, to ensure timely and appropriate outcomes
  • Lead any issue management and undertake investigations (including end-to-end) into incidents arising on field that relate to community football match day environments
  • Identify trends and issues and work closely with Club Development & Experience Manager on any required education in community club environments
  • Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role
  • Support and contribute to the success of the broader team

OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER 

This role would suit someone who has previously worked in law enforcement, has a strong legal background or has experience working in compliance/conducting investigations and is looking to move into a football environment. You'll also need the following, to help you succeed in the role:

  • Strong complex stakeholder management skills, and ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven history of leading best practice investigations end-to-end
  • Demonstrated record of integrity and appropriate handling of confidential information
  • Knowledge of AFL policies, rules and regulations (or willing to understand) and ability to become conversant with the AFL National Community Football Policy handbook
  • Previous experience in the application of Policy in a sporting (or similar) environment that meets legislative and legal principles
  • Knowledge of community sporting frameworks, ideally a knowledge of Australian Rules football
  • High level of interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and objectivity to a broad range of scenarios
  • Self-motivated and able to work within strict timeframes
