Department for Infrastructure and Transport
Job reference: 695953
Location: ADELAIDE
Job status: Long Term Contract
Eligibility: Open to Everyone
At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We are responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transformative transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city's public transport network.
Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community.
We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.
The Opportunity
This is your chance to step into a role where your leadership and vision will make a real impact. As our Senior Project Manager, you'll take the lead on delivering some of the department's most important and challenging IT projects – the kind that shape how we work and how the community experiences our services.
You won't just be managing timelines and budgets; you'll be bringing people together. Working closely with business units and Information Services, you'll guide multi-disciplinary teams to create solutions that are not only technically sound but also practical and meaningful for the people who use them.
Every day, you'll play a key role in turning strategic goals into reality – scoping and planning projects, guiding teams through challenges, and ensuring that outcomes are achieved. You'll also have a strong voice at the table with governance groups and senior stakeholders, helping to shape decisions that influence the direction of IT across the department.
If you thrive on complexity, enjoy collaborating across teams, and want to see the direct results of your work in successful, high-impact projects, this role will give you the platform to do just that.
About You
You're someone who thrives on making things happen. Strategic in your thinking and results-driven in your approach, you know how to take complex challenges and turn them into clear, achievable outcomes. People naturally look to you for leadership – not just because you can set direction and drive performance, but because you inspire confidence and bring out the best in those around you.
Your style is collaborative and customer-focused, always aiming to deliver solutions that genuinely meet business needs while aligning with broader strategic goals. You're comfortable navigating sensitive or complex issues, balancing priorities, and making decisions that keep projects on track.
Numbers don't intimidate you – you understand budgets, know how to manage costs, and can quickly spot and address financial risks. At the same time, you're an excellent communicator, able to engage with everyone from team members to senior executives with professionalism and clarity.
Above all, you lead with integrity, accountability, and respect. You value diversity and inclusivity and are committed to creating a culture where people feel supported and empowered to contribute their best.
