What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered as a Team Leader within the Desktop Support section. This position sits within the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Branch of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Command. The CIO Command is a key enabling group that provides technology solutions to combat crime, and support operational members through innovative solutions that impact upon the criminal environment. The CTO Branch provides end to end support for all AFP Networks, ICT Infrastructure and Operations, Cloud Services and Customer Support. As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

Being accountable for managing and leading a Desktop Support team, including managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.

Developing team members and fulfilling a guiding, mentoring and advisory role.

Providing HR and management support to team members.

Building and sustaining relationships and liaising with a range of stakeholders including other teams, peers and colleagues across AFP and other organisations.

Supplying advice and services to business areas seeking to improve or enhance their business processes.

Assisting in maintaining regular and timely communication with both business and technology stakeholders.

Ensuring that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, communicate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services.

Ensuring outputs are achieved within the strategic direction of the AFP.

Leading a range of corporate support tasks.

Maintaining currency in information technology processes and technical knowledge through ongoing professional development.

Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application

A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one

Minimum of 3+ years relevant IT experience in a senior or leadership role.

Demonstrated leadership experience in a customer-facing IT support team.

Relevant qualification or extensive experience and expertise in Information Technology or closely related field

Demonstrated ability to lead a team of technical professionals providing front line support services

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to translate between business and technical people

Excellent organisational, negotiation and conflict management skills.

Desirable Requirements

Contemporary experience providing technical support or leading a team of technical professionals across the following technologies:

Windows 10/11

MS SCCM/Intune

Active Directory

MS Exchange

Citrix M365

Additional Information

Domestic or International travel may be required for this role, depending on AFP business needs.
