Engineering Applications is a Brisbane-based mechanical engineering firm leading in the design, fabrication, installation and maintenance of process plant & equipment across a diverse range of industries.

About the role

We are looking to engage the services of an experienced Mechanical Designer Drafter to join our engineering and drafting team in an extremely diverse and rewarding job role. We work mostly in brownfield sites adding to or modifying existing plant and equipment.

Reporting to the Design Office Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following;

Key Responsibilities (please read carefully before applying for the role):

  • Layout design and detailing of mechanical plant & equipment for materials handling, mining / minerals processing, food, manufacturing and petro-chemical industries
  • Design drafting of process plant & equipment such as tanks, vessels, chutes, hoppers, platforms, walkways, stairs and various types of material handling and processing systems
  • Ability to work from concept designs through basic engineering (development) to detailing to provide workshop fabrication and assembly drawing packages
  • Working with Project Managers / Coordinators, Design Engineering Team members, Trade Supervision / Personnel and Client Representatives
  • Ensure the accuracy of designs by interpreting engineering concepts and specifications, conducting site measurements and translating into 3D CAD environment, liaising with trade personnel and ensuring continuity of your work through workshop fabrication and installation
  • Working to project specific time-lines to ensure quality engineering design drawings are delivered on time

Key selection criteria:

  • Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical)
  • Strong Experience in 3D CAD - (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Proven experience design drafting to Australian Standards, Codes & Specifications
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to relate to clients, suppliers, workshop and trade personnel

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred (similar will be considered)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop engineering concepts through to design and detailed drafting
  • Experience design drafting to Australian Standards and Codes of Practice for a variety of industries
  • Experience working with or in a workshop or trade oriented environment
  • Proven ability to conduct detailed and accurate site measurements
  • Visa sponsorship will not be considered for this role
