Salary Range - $87,656 to 94,362 (depending on skills and experience) plus superannuation

You will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient, effective and high-quality operational and reactive maintenance across a range of building assets in the City of Mitcham.

The Role
As the Facilities Support Officer, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative and maintenance activities to support the Property and Facilities team including:
- Administer, revise, and update service contracts and with general direction, work with Council's Procurement function to prepare and negotiate contracts for Council's cleaning and other facilities operations contract.
- Coordinate works for reactive maintenance for all Council buildings.
- Develop and maintain a scheduled maintenance program to minimise reactive requests and related disruption and reduce maintenance costs.
- Coordinate the attendance of contractors across council's building assets in consultation with stakeholders including issuing keys and providing access.
- Engage maintenance contractors through raising purchase orders to perform works in line with council's financial management policies and system.
- Undertake the evaluation and purchase of office furniture and equipment.
- Maintain a register of subcontractors, conduct contractor site inductions and site/project audits in line with legislation and Council policies and procedures.
- Act as the contact point for Council corporate purchases of printing, stationery and consumables ensuring stock levels are maintained.
- Conduct inspections of leased premises to ensure maintenance and cleaning of Council properties in undertaken in line with leasing arrangements.
- Contribute to process and systems improvements for Council buildings.
- Provide administrative support and advice for Mitcham General Cemetery
- Special projects, as directed.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Sound knowledge of facilities management, WHS, procurement, and relevant Council policies.
- Working knowledge of facilities management principles, insurance, and relevant legislation (Local Government Act, Burial and Cremation Act/Regulations).
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated, able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
- Creative, innovative, and flexible approach.
