Your new role
We're looking for two Operations Supervisors to join our team at our North Melbourne branch. This is a 24/7 operation, and we're seeking two leaders to help keep things running seamlessly, one to cover the morning shift (starting around 6–7am) and one for the afternoon shift (starting around midday). Both roles are Monday to Friday, giving you your weekends to recharge.
You'll be responsible for coordinating and supporting day-to-day operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and exceptional service delivery. You'll work closely with your drivers, customers, and internal teams to keep everything running smoothly.
Here's what your day will look like:
- Coordinating and scheduling 20–25 daily runs, ensuring on-time, compliant operations
- Managing an experienced driver group
- Holding daily conversations with the customer, building strong relationships and maintaining a firm compliance focus
- Leading Toolbox meetings, driver debriefs, and incident management
- Attending council meetings and providing accurate operational reporting
- Managing tipping truck operations and moving fleet vehicles for maintenance or repairs
- Taking a proactive approach to performance management, including leading disciplinary conversations where required
- Delivering a consistent "Safety First – Home Safe" message, with regular Time in Field Assessments
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
About you
You're a confident, hands-on leader who knows how to get things done. You take pride in running an organised operation, supporting your team, and driving high standards every day.
What you'll bring:
- Drive and initiative – you don't wait to be told what to do; you make things happen
- Experience leading drivers or field-based teams, ideally in transport, waste or logistics
- Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to coach, support, and hold others accountable
- Customer service focus – you know how to build rapport and manage expectations
- A solid understanding of safety and compliance
- Intermediate Excel and Word skills
- Ideally, some exposure to P&L or operational cost management
- HR Licence preferred, but not essential
- Resilience, confidence, and organisation – you stay calm under pressure and lead by example
