Position Summary: Cyber Security Project Manager
Reporting to the Cyber Security Program Manager, the Cyber Security Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Cyber projects within an existing program of work. This role will focus on delivery of cryptographic services such as digital certificates, key lifecycle management, identity and access management, HSM/KMS, Secrets Management and related security projects are implemented securely, efficiently, and on schedule. The Cyber Security Project Manager will work cross-functionally with cybersecurity, infrastructure, development, compliance, and third-party vendors to drive the successful deployment and ongoing enhancement of Cyber Security solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the project cycle including developing project plans, identifying and coordinating resources, managing budgets and meeting reporting requirements
- Develop and monitor all aspects of project implementation, including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, project impact and quality measures while maintaining a detailed project plan
- Collaborate with technical & business teams to define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource needs.
- Collaborate with Design & Architecture oversight forums to ensure proposed designs are reviewed and socialised with Architects, System Engineers, Compliance teams etc
- Coordinate the deployment and integration of PKI systems including certificate authorities (CAs), hardware security modules (HSMs), KMS, Secrets Management and identity services.
- Work closely with security architects and engineers to ensure solutions meet enterprise security standards and compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, ISM, PSPF, SOCI, SONS, Essential 8).
- Serve as the point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and reporting on project progress and status.
- Work closely with existing Senior Project Manager (IDAM) to align on deliverables, delivery timelines, sharing of allocated resources and coordination of inter-dependencies to ensure timely delivery of Cyber Security capabilities in line with overall Program timelines
- Facilitate change management processes, including training, documentation, and communication for impacted teams.
- Ensure PKI governance, lifecycle management, and audit readiness throughout project execution and post-deployment.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum of 5+ years of project management experience in IT or cybersecurity projects, with at least 2 years focused on Cyber Security projects, preferably PKI/cryptographic technologies, HSM/KMS & Secrets Management solutions.
- Knowledge of ACSC, ISM, AESCSF, SoCI Act, Essential Eight, PSPF framework
- Demonstrated project management, analytical and time management skills and the ability to coordinate, plan and prioritise activities
- Strong understanding of PKI concepts including digital certificates, certificate lifecycle management, encryption, digital signatures, authentication protocols.
- Experience managing cross-functional technical teams in complex, enterprise-level environments.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent (e.g., PRINCE2).
- Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Microsoft ADCS, AWS Certificate Manager, Azure Key Vault, Venafi, DigiCert, Thales HSM, KeyFactor Command, EJBCA or similar PKI platforms.
- Experience working to both Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g Utilities/SOCI)
- Experience in energy or utilities sector
