Role Purpose and Objectives

The Infrastructure Services Department is responsible for the provision of major projects and services across a broad range of areas within Council's overall operations. The position plays a key role in contributing to the success of the Infrastructure Services department. The incumbent will work closely with other staff involved with the annual preparation and delivery of Council's asset management and capital works program.

This position works closely with the Civil Projects Officer to capture and enter data into Council's asset register and mapping programs, as well as provide survey and set out for Council's engineering and building projects. The position will involve some physical capture of data (site visits) and then development, implementation and maintenance of Council's asset systems.

Reports to: Manager Engineering and Assets
Internal Liaisons: All Council Staff
External Liaisons: Ratepayers, Residents and General Public

Key Responsibilities and Functions
  • Deal promptly, empathetically and efficiently with customers to meet their needs, adhering to the Customer Service Charter.
  • Management of Council's asset management systems
  • Implement and maintain the 5 Year Road Transport Plan
  • Maintain Council's Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) enquiries through Council's QGIS system
  • Maintain Council's NHVR enquiries relating to road permits for oversized vehicles
  • Ensure departmental statutory reporting requirements are met
  • Assist the department's Team Leaders with reporting and maintenance of other management systems (Currently Council utilises MEX software for CWMS, plant and building maintenance)
  • Traffic Data Capture and Reporting (Metro Count)
  • Responsible for the provision of efficient and effective delivery of agreed services including:
    • Condition and location of all Council assets are recorded
    • Asset data is recorded in asset management software and mapping system
    • Reports and maps are produced as required
  • Ensure accurate reports and appropriate paperwork within agreed timeframes
  • Prepare Reports and recommendations for consideration by the Director of Infrastructure
  • Through the asset management system provide annual and long-term reports for Councils 5 Year Road Transport Plan
  • Provide GIS analysis on asset management issues
  • Provide GIS support for infrastructure project management
  • Provide GIS support to staff for customer enquiries
  • Working collaboratively in the development, implementation and maintenance of Council's asset management systems
  • Investigate, record and analyse asset information to ensure the data captured is accurate, complete and structured
  • Assist in developing guidelines and procedures for data capture relating to asset life cycle phases
  • Ensuring the asset management system outputs are available
