About the Role
As a Locomotive Driver, you will prepare and operate locomotives and trains in a variety of environments while adhering to safety standards, ensuring compliance with procedures and operational requirements. You will also be expected to work both independently and as part of a team, playing a key role in ensuring that customer and operational requirements are met, with a particular focus on safety, delivery and quality.
Your strong communication skills and judgment will be key in achieving safe operations in high-risk work environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing/coordinating shunting movements, both independently and in cooperation with Shift Supervisors, in accordance with established procedures and standards
- Processing and monitoring train performance information
- Provisioning and preparing locomotives for train operations including checking and testing control systems as well as preparing relevant compliance documentation
- Working with key internal stakeholders to work towards a Delivered In-Full, On-Time (DIFOT) performance for the Pacific National group
- Proactively working towards and supporting the achievement of safety goals
- On-going commitment to company values of safety, integrity, accountability and teamwork
About You
To be successful in this role you will be an experienced Locomotive Driver with a current Cert IV in Train Driving. You will have a strong regard to safety, demonstrate a positive and proactive attitude and be capable of working in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates must be able and willing to work a 24/7 rotating roster.
You will also possess the following skills, attributes and experience:
- A basic level of computer proficiency
- A strong customer focused approach to your work
- Passion for success and willingness to undertake ongoing training and development activities
- A genuine interest in adding value and helping our business to grow
- Current C Class motor vehicle licence is essential
- Ability to complete a Category 1 Rail Medical and Drug & Alcohol test
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge of rail safety and train handling procedures
