Your new role:

Are you a hands-on problem solver who loves the great outdoors? Based in the Leliyn (Edith Falls) Kiosk/ Campground, this is a central tourism area within Nitmiluk National Park, we are seeking a Maintenance Officer to help keep our campground, amenities, and kiosk in top condition in conjunction with the Kiosk Supervisor and Parks and Wildlife NT. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and ensures guests have a seamless and enjoyable stay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General maintenance and repairs of campground facilities, including amenities blocks, and common areas.
  • Groundskeeping, including mowing, weeding, and rubbish collection to maintain a clean and inviting environment.
  • Basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks as required.
  • Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Assisting with kiosk operations when needed.
  • Responding to guest maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to handle cash and EFTPOS transactions if required.
  • Campground Booking assistance for members of the public through approved online booking systems managed by Parks & Wildlife.
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills including a demonstrated ability to provide advice to, consult with, and effectively facilitate communication amongst Aboriginal people, the scientific community, government agencies and other external bodies.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Previous experience in maintenance, handyman work, or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and general repair work.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot maintenance issues.
  • A proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • A positive, guest-focused approach.
  • A current driver's licence (essential).
  • Ability to coordinate works and delegation to team members.
  • Ability and willingness to train new team members.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and peak period.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with First Nations Peoples in a remote setting.
