About the Organisation:

Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, forming part of Mildura Base Public Hospital, offers a range of inpatient and community-based services for people with mental illness in the Northern Mallee Region.  We promote and provide a work environment that embraces professional development and supports staff to maximize growth through internal and external education.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician with an interest and passion for working with infants, children and families. While working with some autonomy, the position will be supported by a manager, regular clinical meetings, supervision and learning and development opportunities.

The position will include providing secondary consultation to other professionals and guidance to the multi-disciplinary team whose focus is on improving health outcomes for infants and children aged 0 to 11 years.

The Mental Health Clinician will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive assessments that build upon the psycho-social information gathered by the START Clinicians from the provision of evidence based therapeutic interventions and holistic support for young people and their families. This will include the provision of triage, intake and assessment, individual and group therapy, secondary consultation, case management care team meetings, advocacy and referral services.

These services will be based on best practice, evidenced based models of care, and may be delivered in-person or online/telehealth and may also include in-reach and outreach to the community. The Mental Health Clinician will also work with the parents/caregivers of infants and children, and other professional services engaged.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Professionally recognised Tertiary qualification in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Psychology, as well as relevant professional registration
• Demonstrated clinical and leadership skills within a relevant healthcare setting
• Specialised knowledge and/or experience of eating disorders and the impact this has on people across the life span.
• Develop and implement a coordinated, region-wide approach to eating disorder care, with a focus on early intervention and integrated treatment.
• Work closely within the service to ensure seamless transitions between child, youth, adult mental health services and older adult services
