THE ROLE
Our client is seeking an
APS6 Training Specialist
with a minimum
NV1 security clearance
to design and deliver innovative training programs, build security capability, and promote a strong security culture across government staff and partner agencies. Using adult learning principles and diverse delivery methods, you will equip staff to identify, mitigate and manage security risks while ensuring training remains current, effective, and aligned with organisational objectives.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will bring experience in government training development, delivery and coordination, with strong communication skills and proficiency across face-to-face, virtual, eLearning and blended platforms. You will have knowledge of security frameworks and risk management, or the ability to acquire this quickly, and be skilled in developing innovative, engaging training solutions. Strong coordination, stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach, are essential.
KEY DUTIES
- Deliver presentations and facilitate training for agency staff and partner agencies.
- Develop innovative, relevant, diversity-enabled, and culturally sensitive learning solutions for agency officers, including associated instructional materials.
- Undertake continual analysis and review of OTS training curricula and existing processes to ensure alignment with the agencies objectives.
- Identify security training and capability gaps and assist in developing strategies to address them through ongoing monitoring and refinement of the agencies training programs.
- Assist in reviewing and modifying security training content, drawing on a broad range of information to ensure it addresses emerging security risks, aligns with the agency Security Framework, applies adult learning principles, and meets the needs of a diverse workforce.
- Liaise and collaborate, as directed, with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to understand and refine security training needs.
- Develop eLearning content and modules.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as required.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Government training development, delivery, and coordination experience
- Possess a secuirty clearance of Negative Vetting 1, at a minimum
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience across face-to-face, virtual, eLearning, and blended platforms
- Knowledge of security frameworks and risk management, or ability to learn quickly
- Ability to design, deliver, and update innovative training programs
- Client-focused with strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills
- Skilled in developing security awareness and education initiatives
- Comfortable engaging with staff across all levels and maintaining networks

October 2025 – October 2026 (with possible 12-month extension)
Hours:
37.5 hours per week.
Security Clearance:
Australian Government NV1 or higher.
