Flight Training Adelaide Queensland (FTAQ) has partnered with Qantas Group to provide a professional flight training facility for airline pilots. We provide three buffet style meals per day, plus snacks for 365 days per year to 165 students who live on campus. We have a purpose-built dining hall and modern catering facility and our staff cater for occasional company special events and student graduations, which enables our team to showcase their talents and flair.

FTAQ is looking to recruit a suitably experienced Full Time Kitchen Hand who can work as part of a small team.

Reporting to the Chef on Duty, the Kitchen Hand is responsible for the preparation of food products and the day to day cleanliness of the kitchen operations.

The chosen candidate will be able to:

  1. Cut and prepare fruit trays for lunch and dinner service.
  2. Cut and prepare tossed salad for lunch and dinner service.
  3. Sweep and mop dining room and kitchen floor daily.
  4. Wipe down tables and sanitise after each meal.
  5. Fill up drink dispensers and clean benches periodically.
  6. Fill up bread and condiments.
  7. Wash dishes, cutlery, pots and pans.
  8. Empty and clean garbage bins.
  9. Clean store rooms and cold rooms daily.
  10. Ensure that weekly cleaning roster is adhered to.
  11. Must be able to work a rotating roster which includes early morning starts, late finishes and working public holidays as required due to operational needs.
  12. Other duties as directed by Management.

Essential qualifications and experience

  1. One year minimum desirable experience working as a Kitchen Hand.
  2. Excellent knowledge of safe food handling practices.
  3. Good customer services skills.
  4. Ability to cope under pressure.
  5. Excellent communication skills, competency in both verbal and written English is essential.
  6. A polite, professional and helpful approach.

  7. Physically capable of the below:

  8. The ability to lift 2/10/15 kg regularly

  9. The ability to respond quickly to sounds
  10. The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  11. The ability to work in extreme weather
  12. The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.

As part of the recruitment process for FTAQ you are required to supply the below:

  • Current Australia National Police Check
  • Current Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Test

Location

There is no scheduled bus service to the FTAQ campus and only a limited bus service that stops at Wellcamp Airport. The location of FTAQ campus from Wellcamp Airport is 3.7 km if walking. Free parking is available on campus, near workplace, therefore, this role will suit someone who has access to private transport due to limited access of public transport.
