Job Description
About the Role

The Friends' School is seeking a highly organised and professional Executive Officer to the Principal's Office. This role provides critical executive-level support to the Principal and plays a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the School's leadership and governance processes.

The Executive Officer manages the Principal's schedule and correspondence, prepares and coordinates key documentation, liaises with staff, parents and Board members, and ensures effective communication across the School community.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working with discretion and confidentiality. Strong written communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to build trusted relationships and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Focus Areas

  • Provide high-level executive and administrative support to the Principal.
  • Manage the Principal's diary, correspondence, communications and meeting logistics.
  • Coordinate agenda preparation, minutes, and documentation for committees and key governance meetings.
  • Review and edit documents to ensure clarity, accuracy and consistency.
  • Liaise with staff, Board members, parents, and the wider school community with professionalism and discretion.
  • Assist with staff communications, HR support, and coordination of School events.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate initiative in managing sensitive matters.

Essential Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in a business-related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated strong written, verbal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high standards in document preparation and proofreading.
  • Proven experience in executive support or similar roles, with the ability to exercise initiative and discretion.
  • Advanced computer literacy across word processing, spreadsheets, database management and email systems.
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (employment category).
  • A current National Police Check (less than 6 months old).
