Embark on a rewarding career and be part of a team where your dedication makes a difference in people's lives.
About the Role
We're looking for a Grade 3 Social Worker to join our expanding and impactful team, working across the Casey and Dandenong EDs. This is a full time, ongoing position, that will require travel between sites.
As part of the Engage Team, you'll provide advanced clinical expertise to support individuals presenting to ED with mental health concerns, conducting complex psychosocial assessments and facilitating safe, supported discharges. You'll play a critical role in providing assertive outreach, follow-up, and advocacy for up to a month post-discharge, ensuring continuity of care and optimal outcomes.
What your day might look like:
- Conducting high-quality, timely psychosocial assessments in a fast-paced ED setting
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support safe and effective discharge planning
- Providing evidence-based interventions, advocacy, and risk management
- Offering targeted outreach and follow-up post-ED discharge
- Contributing to service development and innovation as part of a dedicated, passionate team
This is a unique opportunity to shape a growing service, strengthen your clinical and leadership skills, and truly make a difference in a dynamic and supportive environment.
About Us
Our Engage Team began its journey at Casey Hospital in mid-2021 and expanded to Dandenong ED in early 2022. Initially comprised of Senior Social Workers, we now also include Consumer Peer Workers, reflecting our commitment to lived experience and multidisciplinary collaboration. Together, we offer an innovative, client-centred service for individuals presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) with complex psychosocial needs.
About You
You are a compassionate and experienced Social Worker, driven to support individuals experiencing complex psychosocial and mental health challenges. With a strong clinical foundation and a desire to lead and innovate, you are ready to take the next step in your career.
You excel in dynamic environments like EDs, where no two days are the same. You bring a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approach, along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills. You thrive in a collaborative team and are committed to achieving meaningful outcomes for the people you serve.
To thrive in this role, you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in Social Work, ideally within mental health or emergency settings
- Advanced psychosocial assessment and intervention skills
- A passion for innovation and service development
- Confidence to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- A flexible, proactive, and person-centred approach to care
Qualifications and Requirements:
- AASW-accredited Bachelor or Master's Degree of Social Work
- Eligibility for AASW membership (written evidence required for overseas qualifications)
- Relevant experience at a senior level (Grade 2s ready to step up to Grade 3 are welcome)
In Return
As a valued member of the Monash Health team, you'll have access to a wide range of benefits designed to support your wellbeing, development, and career progression, including:
- Salary packaging – increase your take-home pay with generous salary packaging options.
- Professional development – access to ongoing training, education, and leadership opportunities to support your career growth.
