Female Disability Support Worker – High Needs Participant

Location: Dandenong, VIC

We are currently seeking a compassionate, experienced, and reliable Female Disability Support Worker to support a participant with complex physical, neurological, and mental health needs in the Dandenong area.

This is a high-support, person-centred role requiring strong manual handling skills and a trauma-informed approach. The ideal candidate will be committed to empowering the participant while maintaining safety, dignity, and quality of life.

Participant Overview:

The participant is living with multiple complex diagnoses including:

  • Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)
  • Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES)
  • Schizoaffective Disorder
  • Generalised Anxiety, Social Anxiety & Panic Disorder
  • Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
  • Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)
  • Diabetes

She:

  • Uses a wheelchair and has mobility issues, putting her at high risk of falls
  • Experiences 25–30 seizures per day, with some requiring medical intervention
  • Has speech difficulties and is at high risk of choking
  • Requires daily personal care support and assistance with community access

Essential Requirements:

  • Female support workers only (due to participant's personal preference)
  • Proven experience in complex personal care
  • Strong manual handling and mobility support skills
  • Knowledge and implementation of Behaviour Support Plans and restrictive practices
  • High-level empathy, patience, and compassion
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive during seizure events
  • First Aid and CPR (seizure management training is a plus)
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check

Desirable:

  • Nursing background or nursing experience
  • Experience working with clients with neurological or psychiatric conditions
