The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking an experienced and innovative Digital Learning Project Officer to join the Learning team in this full-time non-ongoing APS level 6 position for 12-months.

About the Role
The Digital Learning Project Officer is responsible for the Museum's online school learning program which includes virtual excursions and online learning resources for K-12 teachers and students. The role requires research, design and evaluation skills to produce and maintain accessible digital learning experiences across a wide range of ages and subject areas. Through collaborations and digital delivery tools, this role leverages curriculum-linked content, to extend the reach of the Museum around the country.
Please note: This recruitment process is intended to fill both current and future vacancies. While the position on offer is non-ongoing, a merit pool of suitable applicants may be established to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing positions within the next 18 months.
Key Accountabilities
Under limited direction, this position is responsible for delivering the following functions:
- Design, coordinate, and deliver high-quality virtual excursions and webinars, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure engaging and curriculum-aligned learning experiences.
- Research, develop, and review innovative web-based learning resources that meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum and support diverse learner needs.
- Provide advice to the Learning Manager on project budgets, resourcing, and timelines, ensuring projects are planned, delivered, and evaluated effectively.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and implement promotional campaigns for school learning programs, including EDMs, social media, and other targeted channels.
- Partner with the Digital team to review, update, and create new content on the Museum's Learning website, ensuring resources are current, accessible, and engaging.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with digital learning projects, implementing strategies to ensure compliance with Museum policies and standards.
- Establish and manage evaluation processes, including surveys and data collection, to measure impact, inform reporting, and guide continuous improvement.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of digital learning equipment, ensuring technology supports program delivery effectively and efficiently.
- Contribute expert advice and operational support across the Learning team, assisting with the delivery of programs, projects, and initiatives as required.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in digital learning practices, identifying opportunities to enhance delivery methods, user experience, and program reach.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will demonstrate their capacity against the following:
- Demonstrated expertise in researching and developing curriculum-aligned digital and classroom learning resources for K–12 students, with a proven ability to design engaging, innovative content.
- Proven experience coordinating and delivering virtual excursions and online programs, including the effective operation and maintenance of digital learning equipment and platforms.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships across internal teams, schools, and external partners to deliver high-quality learning outcomes.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor content and messaging for diverse audiences, including educators, students, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and complex projects, exercising sound judgment, initiative, and problem-solving to meet deadlines and achieve strategic outcomes.
Qualifications and/or relevant experience required
Mandatory:
- A degree in primary and/or secondary education, with specialisation in History and/or First Nations cultures, or equivalent educational experience in a cultural institute.
- A strong track record in researching and developing digital and/or face-to-face learning programs aligned with the school curriculum.
- Experience in the delivery of virtual excursions to K-12 students and teachers.
Desirable:
- Experience in evaluating and improving programs to respond to audience feedback.
- Experience with the Drupal Content Management System (CMS).
- Success in engaging with education professional bodies.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and cultural content.
- Demonstrated experience in WHS monitoring and risk assessment procedures.
