This role is responsible for handling all civil matters working in the health justice partnerships across Victoria.
ABOUT OUR CLIENT
Located in St Kilda our client is a unique Community Legal Centre providing pro bono, legal advice and representation to among the most marginalised in the community. They practice predominately in Criminal Law, Family Violence matters and Family Law plus a small range of civil law matters. This role offers a compelling opportunity for you to make a difference working in health justice partnerships within housing and mental health service settings.
THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure justice for those who fall through the cracks in our system. You'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team, working closely with colleagues and be on the ground with partner organisations working on generalist civil matters as required. This opportunity is ideally Full time but open to Part time with flexibility and a monthly RDO.
THIS ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Liaising with and attending various health justice partnership organisation in an outreach capacity.
- Managing your own portfolio of clients, ensuring high-quality service, compliance, and timely delivery to resolve civil law issues.
- Providing high level legal advice and casework services.
- Handling debt, infringements, and FAS scheme matters.
- Providing high level of stakeholder engagement with our referring partners.
- Meeting ongoing deadlines to ensure reporting timeframes are achieved.
- Maintaining comprehensive client records in Action step (client management system).
- Expanding practice capabilities.
IDEALLY YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING
- 5+ years of experience as a civil lawyer.
- Hold Full Practising Certificate to practice Law in Victoria.
- Relevant Legal degree/qualifications.
- Working with Children Check, a Police Check and a clean current Driver's license, and own car.
- Demonstrated commitment to access to justice, social justice, and equality.
- Expertise working with in a health justice environment.
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the drive and capacity to communicate positively with all stakeholders.
