DCM Lawyers is a well-established boutique inner city law firm located in newly fitted heritage office space on Collins Street. We have a unique opportunity for a lawyer, junior lawyer or an experienced paralegal to join our team.

The advertised position is in our civil litigation team working with 5 other admitted lawyers in primarily high-volume Plaintiff work involving property damage caused by negligence, contract disputes, insurance disputes and motor vehicle collision matters. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to greatly enhance their civil litigation knowledge of both the law and court procedure and will be exposed to hundreds of different matters each year with opportunities to gain exposure to court appearances if desired.

About you

We are looking for a lawyer/junior lawyer or experienced paralegal with the following skills:

  • Communicate, manage, and interact well with clients;
  • Introduce the services of the firm and the scope of work required to achieve a desired outcome for the client;
  • Understand and explain complex legal processes and concepts to clients;
  • Complete legal tasks including drafting court documents as directed by the Principal of our civil litigation team;
  • Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills;
  • Fit seamlessly into a young and dynamic team of professionals;
  • Familiarity with LEAP is a bonus but not essential;
  • Previous experience in civil litigation (ideally in the Magistrates' Court) is strongly preferred.
  • An ability to work closely with barristers to prepare and instruct at trial.

The ideal candidate will be an admitted lawyer but we are also open to accepting applications from experienced paralegals who have experience working in fast-paced law firms.
