About the role:

The Project Lead, Enterprise Bargaining is responsible for leading the negotiation process for the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) at Wuchopperen Health Service (WHS). This role involves close collaboration with unions, internal stakeholders, and external advisors to achieve a successful and timely negotiation outcome that aligns with organisational goals and complies with relevant legislation.

This position reports to the Manager, Human Resources and does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end EBA negotiation process, including planning, stakeholder engagement, negotiation meetings and submission to the Fair Work Commission.
  • Facilitate transparent and constructive negotiations with union representatives and employee groups.
  • Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, including adherence to NERR and BOOT requirements.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to keep staff informed and engaged throughout the bargaining process.
  • Conduct risk assessments and cost modelling to support negotiation strategies.
  • Coordinate internal teams and legal advisors to ensure alignment and preparedness for key negotiation milestones.
  • Monitor and report on negotiation progress, ensuring deadlines are met and outcomes are accurately documented.
  • Support the implementation of EBA outcomes, including training, documentation, and change management initiatives.
  • Collect and analyse statistical data to measure performance against agreed indicators and contribute to review and evaluation activities.
  • Participate in organisational and community activities to advance the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Work within Wuchopperen's Policies and Procedures including the Staff Code of Conduct and the Work Health and Safety requirements and contribute to continuous improvement processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and safe, effective service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as required, consistent with your skills, experience and capacity.

Core Capabilities:

For applicants to be successful in this role, they should demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in EBA negotiations, preferably within the health or community sector, with a strong understanding of industrial relations and employment law, ensuring culturally safe practices are embedded throughout the negotiation process.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective, including the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, supported by critical thinking, analytical capabilities, and risk management expertise to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders, as well as effectively advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities, and handle sensitive and confidential maters with discretion.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet and work within the core values and behaviours of Wuchopperen Health Service.

Qualifications and experience:

Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations, law, or another related field.

Requirements:

  • Hold a current Blue Card (for suitability to work with children and young people).
  • Proof of qualifications is required to be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • Possess a current driver's licence.
  • A commitment to adhere to Wuchopperen's policies and procedures.
