Artemis Creative is a full-service video production and content creation agency helping brands across Australia tell powerful stories that inspire action. We produce cinematic brand films, commercials, and digital campaigns for clients across different industries.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and creative Video Director to join our team on a freelance basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in directing both small and large productions, writing commercial scripts, and leading teams to deliver compelling video content that reflects our clients' brand vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct video productions from pre-production through final delivery.
  • Write and develop commercial scripts, storyboards, and shot lists that align with client goals.
  • Conduct on-camera interviews with confidence and professionalism.
  • Lead and direct production crews, talent, and clients on set.
  • Ensure all content meets Artemis Creative's high production standards and aligns with brand messaging.
  • Review and quality control all edits before submission to clients.
  • Capture ad hoc behind-the-scenes content and short social videos when required (using a camera or phone).
  • Collaborate with producers, editors, and marketing staff to maintain a seamless creative process.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Video Director, Film Director, or similar role.
  • Strong ability to direct both talent and crew.
  • Exceptional scriptwriting and storytelling skills for commercial and branded content.
  • Experience in conducting interviews and creating authentic, engaging performances on camera.
  • Keen eye for quality, composition, lighting, and storytelling.
  • Proficiency with camera operation and on-set production processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be based in Australia and able to work on-site when needed.

Desirable

  • Experience working with brands, agencies, or production houses.
  • Basic editing knowledge to provide feedback and oversee revisions.
  • Understanding of storytelling for business
