The opportunity:
If you're an experienced accountant who wants to understand the business, not just process it, this is the role for you. Ron Finemore Transport (RFT) is offering more than a job. This is a career-defining opportunity to step into a high-trust, high-impact role where what you do really matters.
This position is full-time, based at RFT's Wodonga office. Being in the office means hearing what's happening, spotting the small things that make a big difference, and staying closely connected to a team that genuinely supports one another.
In this role, you'll be closely involved in monthly management packs and financial strategy. You'll see the ripple effect of your work across the entire business and gain direct access to senior managers across operations, safety, and finance. Whether you're looking to stay long-term in a rewarding role or progress into future leadership, this is an opportunity with real scope and visibility.
Is this you? You're not here to crunch numbers and clock off. You want to know what the numbers mean and how they move a business forward. You're the type who spots trends before others do, asks smart questions, and brings ideas that make things better. Titles don't matter to you. What matters is making
an impact. You're approachable, open-minded, and thrive in teams that collaborate, not compete. And when something needs doing, you step in. No fuss, no ego.
This is a broad and hands-on role with exposure to multiple areas of finance. You'll be involved in both core accounting and cross-functional support that gives you visibility across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Working with operational managers on budgeting, forecasting and gap/opportunity analysis
-
Month-end reporting and preparation of management packs
-
Balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
-
Support for BAS, payroll tax, FBT and audit processes
-
Cash flow and wage cost analysis across multiple cost centres
-
Contributing to process improvements, system updates and efficiency initiatives
-
Collaborating with other finance team members and senior leaders to solve complex problems
-
Business partnering at multiple levels to streamline corporate practices
-
Using commercial insights for prospective solutions to financial and non-financial challenges
-
CA or CPA qualified
-
10+ years' experience in a corporate accounting environment
-
Advanced Excel skills
-
Experience with Truckmate is rare, but if you have it, we'll be seriously impressed
-
Open, curious and collaborative with strong interpersonal awareness
-
Willingness to support across all areas of accounts
-
Steady under pressure, solutions-focused, and a team contributor
-
Comfortable working across a range of personalities
-
Happy to share knowledge and jump in where needed
