The Role

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR & Student Advisor to work on a part time basis (4 days a week). Applicants must be available to work onsite on Mondays to fit in with the Institute's induction schedule.

As our HR & Student Advisor, your primary responsibilities will be to provide broad HR administrative and advisory support to the People & Culture Team, in addition to providing support to the Institute's Student Coordinator. Reporting into our People & Culture Manager, Naomi Fennell, this role performs a wide variety of tasks spanning recruitment, onboarding and inductions for all staff and students, administration associated with the employee lifecycle, being the first point of contact for staff and students and maintaining both staff and student information on our HRIS (ActionHRM).

Who we are seeking

This role will ideally suit someone with demonstrated prior experience in a generalist HR role with strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Excellent organisational skills including the ability to juggle competing tasks and priorities and execute them efficiently will see you excel in this position.

Key prior experiences you will bring to this role include:

HR Experience

  • Partnering with Hiring Managers to support them through the end-to end recruitment process
  • Coordination of on-boarding processes for all new employees, Visitors and students, including issuing employment contracts and facilitating inductions
  • Managing and responding to tier 1 general staff and student enquiries (monitoring the HR Assist mailbox)
  • Providing advice to staff and managers on all aspects of employment including salaries, policies and procedures, performance management, staff benefits, work travel and insurance, professional development and training.
  • Tasks associated with cyclical people activities such as issuing variations to contracts, administration of termination processes and monitoring of probation and annual reviews

Student Experience

  • Coordinating with Lab Heads to facilitate the onboarding of new students
  • Initiation off student allowance and scholarship payments through payroll and ongoing monitoring
  • Maintenance of a student database (currently being transferred from an Excel spreadsheet to our HRIS (ActionHRM)
  • Facilitation of various student programs throughout the year such as the Summer/Winter Student Internships and work experience

To be considered for this role you shall be required to provide evidence you have permanent working rights in Australia. You will also be asked to undergo a police check.

Salary range:$85,645 - $94,508 per annum, plus 12% superannuation. Salary applied will be dependent upon successful candidates' current level, experience and qualifications. In addition to your base salary, we offer up to $15,900 FBT exempt salary packaging and up to $2,650 FBT exempt meals and entertainment packaging.
