Our client is seeking a Project Planner to provide maternity leave cover within the sustaining capital projects team of a major mining operation. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining integrated project schedules spanning engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
The position focuses on turning project strategies into detailed, achievable work plans, tracking progress against baselines, and delivering clear schedule insights to support decision-making and project outcomes. While preference is for someone based locally, there is potential to consider a roster arrangement for candidates from Sydney or surrounding regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, baseline, and maintain schedules (Level 1–4) for mining and infrastructure works.
- Integrate contractor schedules into the master schedule and monitor critical path and milestone alignment.
- Measure and report progress, conducting schedule variance, delay, and impact assessments.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reporting including Gantt charts, look-ahead schedules, dashboards, and progress narratives.
- Support earned value management and schedule risk analysis processes.
- Act as a planning interface with engineering, procurement, construction, contracts, cost control, operations, and contractors.
- Maintain planning tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, applying consistent WBS/CBS standards.
- Provide planning and reporting support across sustaining capital projects, including stage-gate reviews and capital approvals.
About You:
- Demonstrated experience in project planning within mining, infrastructure, or heavy industry.
- Skilled in Primavera P6 (essential) and/or Microsoft Project.
- Strong understanding of critical path analysis, earned value, and schedule risk assessment.
- Ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders and contractors.
- Solid reporting and analytical skills, with a focus on accuracy and clarity.
