About the Team

When you join the Safety and Systems team, you'll be part of a team that plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our rail assets.

The team ensures our rail network operates smoothly across various systems and regions, helping to create a standardised operating environment. This helps increase efficiencies for rail operators, making our network more reliable and cost-effective.

About the Opportunity

Provide ongoing support, review, integration, and project management of Operational Technology voice communication systems, encompassing National Train Communication System (NTCS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing technical support, maintenance, project delivery and improvement initiatives to all components of the Operational Voice
  • Communication System, ensuring high reliability to support ARTC Network Control Centre operations.
  • Provide remote technical support of fibre, wireless UHF and microwave transmission and other field-based communication systems across geographically disperse locations.
  • Provide voice communication system advice, assistance and enactment when necessary for Operational Technology systems for disaster recovery capability.
  • Provide on-call support to investigate and rectify Operational Technology system faults as they occur through a shared on-call roster.
  • Provide technical support to other operational systems and perform other tasks as assigned.

What do we want from you?

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in telecommunications, electrical engineering, ICT, or relevant, with demonstrated experience.
  • Demonstrated, relevant experience in a Network Control Centre, Operations or mission-critical environment.
  • Demonstrated, relevant experience in design, maintenance, implementation, testing and documentation of voice communication and telecommunication systems.
  • Proven data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven good communication, organisational skills, and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver agreed outcomes for high-quality solutions that meet business needs.
