About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Relationship and Development Specialist to join the MIPS Relationship and Business team. In this position, you will be accountable for member acquisition and retention through promotion of MIPS products and services. You will build and maintain successful stakeholder relationships externally with organisations who provide access to their relevant target audience, such as hospitals and colleges. You will ensure each member, potential member or stakeholder experiences a consistent, timely and high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

Member Acquisition and Retention:

  • Accountable for member acquisition and retention account management that promote MIPS products and services. This includes working closely with new and existing members to determine their present and future needs to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a work plan that meets agreed framework (number of development initiatives) and stakeholder development plans.
  • Ensure all business development communication and information is accurate and updated in a timely manager in the Client Relationship Manager (CRM) system.
  • Deliver on KPIs and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for business development, member acquisition, enquires and development including initiative planning, and account management.

Stakeholder Relationships:

  • Build and maintain successful external stakeholder relationships with hospitals, employers, professional and social associations. This includes understanding the stakeholder's objectives and their decision-making processes to form long term business partnerships.
  • Prepare workplan to align to KPIs. This includes achieving agreed call rates for assigned stakeholder contacts that enable and support development initiatives and timely reporting on results.
  • Member Experience:
  • Ensure each member, potential member or stakeholder experiences a consistent, timely and high-quality service.
  • Participate in training, education, regular coaching and undertake regular review of PDS, Insurance handbooks and FAQs.
  • Ensure all correspondence with members and stakeholders is timely, accurate and delivered in accordance with MIPS policy, process, Service Level Agreements, privacy and regulatory, fair trading and competition rules.

Expertise and Presentation:

  • Build expertise in understanding stakeholder types and industry. This includes researching competitors and industry strategies and how they compare to MIPS.
  • Present at events, either in person or virtually to outline the value of MIPS membership utilising consistent branding and presentation collateral. This involves tailoring presentations to meet the audience's needs.

Member focus through Collaboration and Learning:

  • Support and participate in a culture of member focus, open collaboration and challenge.
  • Be open to receiving regular and ongoing feedback and taking action.
  • Own your development plan and be open and participate in continuous learning.
  • Model positive leadership and individual contributor behaviours including change, risk and MIPS behaviours.

Risk and Commercial Acumen:

  • As an individual and part of a team, contribute to the team to deliver on business outcomes, KPIs and budgets. This includes operational service levels, member experience, quality, and risk and compliance measures.
  • Contribute to a continuous improvement program to identify ideas areas for innovation, deliver value and simplify processes.
  • Act in accordance with delegation of authority levels.
  • Leverage external relationships to maximise efficient use of resources and act in the best commercial interest of MIPS.
  • Deliver operational processes and business outcome deliverables in line with MIPS risk management and compliance frameworks and relevant regulatory, fraud control, audit and compliance requirements including delivery of internal audit requirements.

Expected Travel:

  • Regular travel (by car or plane) will be undertaken. Availability and flexibility to consistently attend MIPS scheduled events in various locations is required.
  • MIPS vehicle and mobile phone are provided

About You

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification (eg. business, marketing or health sciences or allied health).
  • Australian driver's licence.
  • Experience working in a customer environment.
  • Previous demonstrated success as a team player within a business development (BD), client relationship and account management positions.
  • Previous demonstrated success using value or solution selling techniques.
  • Ability to execute business development plans and opportunities to achieve new business targets utilising CRM systems.
  • Strong member or customer service with proven track record of working in a Stakeholder and Business Development function in a team environment.
  • Ability to maximise brand development and establish rapport with new and existing stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship building, stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills at all levels in MIPS and for MIPS members.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to utilise superior listening, sales and communication skills, both in-person and utilising technology to communicate virtually.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to present and engage with in-person external audiences. Ability to utilise technology to present virtually.
  • Creativity and a flair for innovation.
  • Attention to detail ensuring accurate information is presented to deliver a consistent member experience.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills to get the right outcomes for members.
  • Strong skills in organising, planning and project management.
  • Self-sufficient in use of digital tools, such as Microsoft suite of applications (Outlook email, calendar, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams), CRM systems and

  • A continuous learner with the ability to remain abreast with the constantly changing business development environment.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in a membership organisation.
  • Experience working in an APRA regulated environment.
  • Experience with promoting membership product and services.
  • Experience of working with external third-party service providers.
