Smile IT is searching for a skilled and motivated
Project Network Engineer
 to join our team full time in our Tingalpa office.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for leading network & system implementation, mentoring junior staff and ensuring high-quality delivery of solutions. You'll engage with clients to gather requirements, develop scopes of work and deliver solutions aligned with Smile IT standards.

This position will play a critical role in maintaining network stability, driving client satisfaction, and contributing to the advancement of IT maturity through strategic infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of network infrastructure projects, including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs with basic security configurations.
  • Ensure network solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with Smile IT standards.
  • Design and implement basic systems infrastructure solutions for client projects, including servers and virtualization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues during project deployments, providing remote and onsite support as required.
  • Engage with clients to gather requirements and develop scopes of work.
  • Collaborate with project coordinators and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for systems, changes, and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices, including light security measures like secure access controls.
  • Stay up to date with emerging IT trends, technologies, and certifications relevant to the role.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members with ad hoc tasks and projects as directed.

Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in network projects within an MSP or client-facing IT environment.
  • Expert knowledge of networking technologies including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Strong knowledge of systems infrastructure including servers (Windows/Linux), virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and storage basics.
  • Familiarity with scripting for automation (e.g., PowerShell or Python basics).
  • Excellent communication skills with strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Desirable Certifications:

  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+ (entry-level)
  • VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA)
  • Microsoft MCSE or equivalent
