Role Description

This is a full-time, ICT System Engineer role located in the North Sydney. The ICT System Engineer will be responsible for systems engineering, troubleshooting, system administration, technical support, and systems design on a day-to-day basis.

Engineering Design Process:

• Lead and manage the engineering design process for ICT systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Develop and review detailed design documentation, including Substantial Detailed Design and Final Detailed Design, ensuring alignment with TfNSW standards.
• Participate in design reviews, provide technical input, and ensure all comments are resolved in a timely manner.

TfNSW Standards Compliance:

• Ensure all ICT systems and designs adhere to Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) standards and guidelines.
• Act as the primary point of contact for TfNSW standards-related queries and ensure all project deliverables meet regulatory and compliance requirements.

ICT System Commissioning:

• Oversee the deployment, configuration, and commissioning of ICT systems within the project scope.
• Develop and execute comprehensive testing and commissioning plans, ensuring all systems are fully operational and meet performance criteria.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues during the commissioning phase, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.

System Engineering Activities:

• Conduct system sizing calculations, RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) analysis, FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis), and Cyber Security Assessments.
• Manage system interfaces among subsystems and external interfaces, ensuring seamless integration.

Technical Expertise:

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in ICT systems, providing guidance on technology selection, system configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Liaise with vendors and stakeholders to ensure equipment configurations comply with technical specifications and project requirements.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

Technical Skills:

• Strong experience with multi-server infrastructure, including virtualization and application clusters, Windows Server Operating Systems, Linux, VMware, SQL, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, Exchange, Office 365, and virtualization technologies.
• Proficiency in networking, routing, switching, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
• Relevant industry certifications, such as MCSE, MCSA, or equivalent.

Engineering Design & Standards:

• Proven experience in the engineering design process, with a strong understanding of TfNSW standards and guidelines.
• Experience in developing and reviewing detailed design documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Commissioning & Testing:

• Hands-on experience in ICT system commissioning, including testing, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of verification and validation processes, with a focus on ensuring system reliability and performance.

General Qualifications:

• Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering or Information Technology qualifications (University Degree or equivalent technical background).
• Excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and keen analytical abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, customers, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Proven experience delivering multiple projects, preferably in the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) industry, with at least 3+ years of experience in tunnel projects being highly desirable.
