Butcher Shop & Deli Manager

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for food, people, and quality? We are seeking a Butcher Shop & Deli Manager to take charge of our retail butcher shop and deli. This is a hands-on role that blends traditional butchery and wholesale management with café-style customer service and community connection.

What You'll Do
  • Oversee all operations across the butcher shop and deli
  • Lead, coach, and mentor staff to deliver excellent service and maintain strong workplace culture
  • Perform general butchering duties including preparing, cutting, and packing prime cuts and wholesale orders
  • Manage food safety documentation, HACCP, WHS, QC, and hygiene compliance
  • Develop weekly specials, product innovation, and menu offerings in the deli/café
  • Supervise stock rotation in cold rooms, freezers, display cabinets, and deli stock
  • Handle rostering, staff scheduling, and wage budgets
  • Manage inventory, place orders, and maintain accurate stock control
  • Foster community relationships and provide exceptional customer service
  • Monitor and report on financial performance including weekly profit and loss
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints with professionalism
  • Support the General Manager in achieving financial and operational targets

  • Experienced in butcher shop or retail meat management, with knowledge of compliance requirements
  • Exposure to café, deli, or hospitality management strongly preferred
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Passionate about food, provenance, and delivering outstanding customer experiences
  • Committed to quality, safety, and building authentic community connections
