About the IT Team
You will be part of Consunet's IT function, a dynamic and future focused capability that underpins our enterprise and customer operations. The team spans systems administration, networks, service management and cyber security, working together to deliver secure, reliable and high-quality ICT environments. As Consunet grows globally, the IT team continues to evolve by embracing new technologies, strengthening collaboration and providing career opportunities across all levels and disciplines.
About the Cyber Security Team
Within IT, our Cyber Security Engineering team is a technically skilled and forward-thinking group dedicated to securing Consunet's software products and infrastructure. They collaborate closely across development, systems and cyber disciplines to embed security throughout the software lifecycle, ensuring solutions are resilient, compliant and mission ready. The team values expertise, innovation and continuous learning, offering pathways to lead, mentor and contribute to strategic initiatives that shape the future of cyber defence.
About the Role
We have multiple opportunities available across various levels within the Cyber Security Engineering stream. In this role, you will design, implement and assess security features across applications and infrastructure, helping to safeguard critical defence capabilities. You will work with cross functional teams to embed security practices, respond to emerging threats and support compliance with industry and regulatory standards. With scope to grow, mentor and lead, this role provides the opportunity to shape the future of secure software delivery in a high impact environment.
What You'll Do
We have opportunities across multiple roles and levels within the Cyber Security Engineering stream, offering the chance to contribute and grow in a dynamic, security-focused environment. You will:
- Design and implement secure features, protocols, and architectures across software and infrastructure
- Conduct threat modelling, risk assessments, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities
- Collaborate across teams to embed security-by-design throughout the software development lifecycle
- Lead or support incident response activities and ensure compliance with recognised standards
- For Senior roles: Mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and strategic initiatives
What You'll Bring
We're looking for candidates across various levels within the Cyber Security Engineering who bring a strong mix of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a passion for secure innovation.
You'll bring
- Proven experience in designing and implementing secure software and infrastructure solutions
- Strong skills in threat modelling, risk assessment, and vulnerability testing
- Familiarity with recognised security standards (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST) and compliance practices
- Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate complex ideas clearly
- A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Baseline (or higher) security clearance
- For senior roles: leadership capability, mentoring experience, and strategic insight
Qualifications
Tertiary or Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
