What is the opportunity?
RBC Capital Markets' Capital Structuring Advisory team is looking for an Analyst with well developed financial modelling skills for our Sydney office.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile transactions, advising clients on debt raisings, capital structure optimization, and executing financing solutions. You will gain experience working with corporate clients, private equity firms, and institutional investors with a primary focus on Power, Utilities & Infrastructure, and with the opportunity to work across a diverse range of sectors. The position provides a platform to develop technical and interpersonal skills as part of a market-leading team.
Our mandate includes capital structure optimization, acquisition financing, refinancing, liability management, and other bespoke financing solutions. The role involves collaboration with internal teams, including Power Utilities & Infrastructure sector coverage, Debt Capital Markets, Corporate Banking, and Risk Solutions, as well as global sector teams offshore to deliver tailored advice to our clients.
This role would suit someone who already has strong financial modelling skills gained in a professional services or project finance environment, and who wants to make the step into Investment Banking advisory.
What will you do?
- Build and maintain financial models to analyze capital structure scenarios and financing options, and provide analytical support to senior team members tasked with running transactions.
- Assist in preparing pitch books, client materials, and transaction documentation.
- Collaborate with internal product and sector teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and proactively identify and escalate operational risks.
- Begin building relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to contribute to business development efforts.
- Other responsibilities as required, in line with your experience and the team's needs.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- 2-6 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in investment banking, project finance, valuations or corporate advisory.
- Sound understanding of debt products, financial modeling, and capital structure analysis.
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Commitment to high professional and ethical standards.
Nice to have:
- Bachelor's degree in commerce, finance, law or quantitative background preferred.
- Prior experience in debt advisory or capital structuring.
