What's the role?
We are looking for an Editorial Team Assistant to join on a permanent basis. This role has a variety of tasks, some of which will be guided, others you will need to run independently, you must be comfortable with both ways of working.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Financial admin support (creating purchase orders, invoice processing and expense reconciliation)
- On boarding / off boarding of employees in The Australian Editorial team, and managing all related requests
- Diary Management supporting Senior Leaders
- Liaising with Human Resources for staff onboarding and engagement
- Reviewing and amending contracts
- Liaising with contributors to ensure timely processing of payments
- Coordinating the work experience and internship program
- Interacting with multiple stakeholders and moving things forward in a timely manner
- Liaising with senior journalists based in our bureaus and providing support when required
- Proactively managing HR and editorial projects, including budget tracking, awards/prize submissions and leave planning
- Coordinating team travel, social events and meetings
- Accurate spreadsheet creation and tracking for various editorial tools
- Help source and upload photos for the Picture Desk
- Help build digital stories
- Social media support during breaking news cycles
Who are you?
Naturally curious and proactive with a positive can-do attitude, you will exhibit a genuine passion for success and always deliver the best that you can in any situation. You will have a keen eye for detail, strong prioritisation skills and be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
You must be a 'people person' and have strong communication skills at all levels. Networking and relationship building must come naturally to you and be something you enjoy.
Previous experience working in a Team Assistant or Coordinator role in a fast-paced business environment and a strong working knowledge of Google Suite, Zoom, Excel, and Concur will be an advantage but not essential.
You will be detail and quality-oriented whilst remaining flexible and adaptable in your approach.
