The Role

We are seeking a Lighting Designer to join our team full-time.

The role offers an opportunity to expand your technical and creative expertise across industrial, commercial, and architectural environments, working alongside an experienced senior designer on real-world projects.

At Coolon, we don't just design lighting - we design lighting solutions using our own products. You'll contribute to projects that demonstrate how Coolon's luminaires deliver exceptional visual, technical, and energy performance.

Key Responsibilities

Working across the full lighting design process - from understanding project requirements to delivering final design documentation:

·       Project brief and understanding

·       Define lighting objectives

·       Product application and selection

·       Lighting simulation and modelling

·       Control and IoT integration

·       Documentation and review

·       Client and internal collaboration

·       Final submission and handover

Required Qualifications and Skills

·       Degree or diploma in Lighting Design, Architecture, Electrical Engineering, or related field

·       Some professional experience in lighting design or electrical/architectural design

·       Solid understanding of photometrics, lighting principles and standards

·       Advanced skills in lighting simulation software (Dialux, AGI32), 3D modelling tools (AutoCAD), and the ability to produce detailed technical documentation that meets both client and industry standards

·       Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or InDesign for visualisation and presentation

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for project documentation and reporting

·       Strong communication and teamwork skills with excellent attention to detail

·       Familiarity with Australian lighting standards and sustainable lighting practices.
