About the role
Western Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced healthcare director to lead our Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care Services (EMICS) Division. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity to drive performance, foster innovation, and ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and connected care across our emergency and critical care settings.
As the Divisional Director – EMICS, reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, you will drive the achievement of operational, financial, and clinical performance goals across emergency and intensive care services, while cultivating a strong culture of continuous improvement and excellence in care.
Working in partnership with the Clinical Services Director, the Divisional Director will ensure the implementation of contemporary, multi-disciplinary models of care and the delivery of Best Care aligned to Western Health's strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the Division to deliver on key quality, performance, fiscal, and operational outcomes.
- Oversee development and implementation of divisional strategic and business plans that align with organisational goals.
- Drive continuous improvement in service delivery, patient experience, and clinical outcomes across emergency and intensive care services.
- Support workforce capability and succession planning to maintain a high-performing, values-aligned team.
- Represent the Division in internal and external partnerships to promote integrated, person-centred care.
About you:
- Proven senior leadership experience leading a large, complex clinical operations in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage clinical governance, service development, and operational performance in line with health service priorities.
- Postgraduate qualifications in management or leadership.
- Exceptional interpersonal, strategic thinking, and change management capabilities.
- A commitment to patient safety, continuous improvement, and values-based leadership.

We also operate Sunbury Community Hospital, Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre, Melton Health and Community Services, Bacchus Marsh Community Health Centre, Caroline Springs Community Health Centre and Grant Lodge Residential Aged Care in Bacchus Marsh. Western Health also provides the primary healthcare service at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, a women's prison located in Ravenhall.
