We're supporting a fast-growing financial services organisation in Brisbane as they appoint a Financial Controller to help lead their next phase of expansion.

This is a hands-on, commercially impactful role where you'll work closely with the Finance Director and wider executive team to strengthen financial performance, elevate reporting, and drive transformation across the finance function.

The business has scaled rapidly and is known for its energetic culture, quick decision-making, and ability to innovate. They value smart operators who bring structure, commercial thinking, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

The Opportunity

Stepping in as a key finance leader, you'll take ownership of:

  • End-to-end financial control, month-end close, and management reporting
  • Preparation of board-pack insights, analysis and executive-level commentary
  • Balance sheet integrity, statutory compliance, audit readiness and policy frameworks
  • Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis in partnership with senior leaders
  • Cashflow oversight, funding support and reconciled financial data for investor/stakeholder reporting
  • Finance systems enhancements, automation, and process improvements
  • Coaching and developing a small team, building a high-performance finance capability

This role strikes the balance between operational excellence and strategic contribution - ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the detail while shaping a stronger, more scalable finance function.

About You

You'll thrive here if you bring:

  • CA/CPA qualification
  • 8+ years' experience across financial reporting, controllership and leadership
  • Strong technical grounding in IFRS/AASB, financial statements and audit
  • A track record of improving processes, controls, systems and reporting environments
  • Confidence partnering with senior stakeholders, including Boards and investors
  • The energy and adaptability suited to a fast-paced financial services

Experience within financial services is advantageous - but not essential if you

have strong technical foundations and transformation capability.
