We're looking for a Health and Safety leader who's ready to roll up their sleeves and help shape a safer, more resilient future for our people and communities. This role leads a small team of Health and Safety professionals and plays a key part in designing, developing and implementing Ausgrid's Health and Safety Management System (HSMS).

You'll be hands-on in coaching and mentoring our people, building a positive team culture, and ensuring our systems are responsive, compliant and fit for purpose. You'll work across teams to embed safety into everything we do.

be doing

  • Driving continuous improvement in safety performance and culture by proactively engaging with stakeholders in the business and providing H&S expertise.
  • Providing governance to the management and delivery of the HSMS policies, procedures, tools and assurance plans.
  • Ensuring HSMS compliance with ISO 45001 and regulatory requirements including IPART and SafeWork NSW.
  • Facilitating risk assessments, investigations and audits, and providing expert advice that promotes a saferworkplace.
  • Championing change management, communication and education initiatives that support safety across the organisation.
  • Collaborating with other teams to integrate safety into systems like ENSMS and GRC.
  • Managing a team of professionals delivering H&S data analysis and reporting to the organisation.

What you bring to the role

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety, Law, Process Engineering, Risk Management, Engineering or related area.
  • Significant experience in Workplace Health and Safety in a medium to large organisation within high-risk industries.
  • Significant experience managing teams of health and safety professionals.
  • A proven strong understanding of WHS Legislation.
  • Significant experience managing a Health and Safety Management System to ISO 45
  • 001 or equivalent.
  • A high level of experience in designing and continually improving H&S management systems.
  • A high level of experience with H&S management system software.
  • A high level of experience in the application of risk based WHS management principles.
  • High level interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation and build a shared vision including producing highly complex and technical written communication including report writing.
  • Proven experience in coaching and mentoring to individuals or groups.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate independence, objectivity and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders throughout
    the Organisation.
