Job Description

BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We're leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We're proud of brands, like COLORBOND steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

Our National Workers Compensation team is seeking an experienced Injury Management Advisor to join us ideally based in Port Kembla or Mascot NSW. This is a pivotal role for someone who is already doing this work in a similar industry or organisation and is ready to take on national influence.

You will be a trusted advocate for both employees and leaders — balancing empathy and business needs while helping injured workers return to work safely and quickly. You'll liaise directly with medical professionals, supervisors, insurers, and leaders, managing complex cases and shaping a best-practice injury management model that delivers real outcomes.

This role is an opportunity to move beyond the limitations of transactional claims management and into a strategic, future-focused position where your impact is tangible and valued. This role will deliver best practice front line injury management and return to work services to injured employees. The role will also require support and training to internal return to work coordinators Nationally. It is expected frequent travel will be undertaken nationally, including regional sites to deliver this training and support.

What Will You Do?

You will:

  • manage complex return-to-work cases across multiple jurisdictions, delivering safe and sustainable outcomes.
  • build strong relationships with treating practitioners and supervisors to facilitate effective recoveries.
  • partner with business leaders and mentor site-based RTW Coordinators to uplift national capability and consistency.
  • contribute to the design and delivery of a modern, best-practice injury management approach.
  • identify systemic challenges and lead continuous improvement initiatives that support wellbeing, performance, and compliance.

More About You

You are already a skilled Return-to-Work or Injury Management professional, ideally in a large or complex industrial environment. You bring a track record of balancing employee wellbeing with organisational outcomes and thrive on collaboration. You will also have:

  • a tertiary qualification in health science, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, or rehabilitation counselling is essential.
  • demonstrated experience in managing complex injury management and return-to-work cases.
  • strong knowledge of workers compensation legislation in NSW and frameworks across self-insured jurisdictions.
  • well-developed influencing and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work confidently across medical, operational, and executive stakeholders.
  • a passion for helping people recover, stay connected to work, and contribute meaningfully to their teams.
