Are you a dynamic, organised, and people-focused professional ready to lead and grow a thriving functions space in one of Sydney's most iconic beachfront locations?

Coogee Surf Life Saving Club is seeking a Functions Manager to oversee the operations, administration, staffing, and client engagement for our Ocean Room – a premium venue for weddings, corporate events, and community functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Venue Operations: Manage bookings, liaise with clients and caterers, coordinate setup and logistics, and ensure compliance with licensing and safety regulations.
  • Marketing & Strategy: Develop off-peak marketing strategies, update promotional materials, and monitor competitor offerings.
  • Administration: Oversee invoicing, POS systems, bar stock, banking, and facility maintenance.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, roster, and supervise functions staff, ensuring high standards and smooth operations.
  • Client Engagement: Be the first point of contact for all enquiries, conduct site visits, and provide tailored support to hirers.
  • Reporting: Maintain monthly and annual financial reports, stock analysis, and asset registers.

About You

  • Proven experience in hospitality, event management, or venue operations.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, staff, and multiple stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • RSA certification and familiarity with liquor licensing requirements.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences.
