Reframe Careers is a dedicated team of Allied Health , Career Counsellors, and Employment Specialists. Established in 2021, we are a growing team focused on providing support to NDIS and Lifetime Care participants as follows:

  • Individuals with congenital or acquired disabilities, injuries, and chronic health conditions
  • People following spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries
  • Neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and Autism

We do the work by:

  • Listening to our clients to meet them where they are at, ensuring choice and control
  • Collaborating with relevant clinicians as well as disability employment providers, training providers and other community programs. We can serve better together
  • Using a mix of qualitative and quantitative tools (e.g., card sorts, psychometrics) for vocational counselling and coaching
  • Combining allied health competencies with career development theory and practice

The Roles:

We are seeking Sydney-based applicants who are passionate about working with teenagers and young adults from a vocational perspective. Two streams of work are available:

1)Vocational Counsellor (Allied Health Professional)

  • Deliver time-limited, youth-focused vocational counselling and assessment processes to participants aged 15-24 years
  • Explore possible vocational pathways including tertiary study, paid employment, apprenticeships, traineeships, micro-business/self-employment (youth-appropriate)
  • Collaborate with schools, families and therapists to understand the personal, environmental, and systemic challenges affecting the youth's transitions
  • Identify ways to develop employability skills through pathways such as volunteering, internships, work experiences, job shadowing, foundational courses, routine management, and executive functioning supports.

2) Employment Services Specialist

  • Action recommendations arising from counselling and assessments such as:
  • Connecting with TAFE student supports:
Disability services and helping facilitate  Fee-Free exemptions.
  • Employment Coaching:
Assist with disability disclosure decisions, interviewing techniques, LinkedIn training, and identifying unadvertised job vacancies.
  • Job-Seeking Documentation:
Collaborate with participants to develop resume and cover letters.
  • Employer Meetings and Education:
Attend meetings with participants and educate employers about workplace needs, preferences, and necessary modifications.
  • Connecting with Disability Employment Providers:
Help participants engage successfully with a DES provider and collaborate with the DES to support them effectively

Both roles involve ongoing collaboration with families, schools, clinicians, disability employment providers, social enterprises, TAFE/training providers, and community programs to support youth transitions.

What you'll need for both roles:

  • Proven experience in working with young people and understanding their unique employment challenges.
  • Ability to build genuine relationships with young clients and their support networks
  • Flexibility to self-manage complex problems with strong independent decision-making and boundary setting
  • Strong time management and organisational skills; proficient with digital tools and virtual delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with developmentally appropriate engagement strategies
  • Attention to detail for case management, billing, and documentation
  • Driver's license and access to your own vehicle
  • NSW Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to travel within the Sydney Metro area to meet clients face-to-face (schools, community settings, clinics)
  • Commitment to strengths-based, neuro-affirming approaches and inclusive practices for LGBTQIA+, culturally diverse backgrounds, and First Nations youth

Qualifications:

Vocational Counsellor:
Qualifications in Rehabilitation Counselling, Developmental Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy and membership with related professional body.

Employment Services Specialist:
