About the Role

As Coordinator Development Assessment, you will:

• Lead and supervise the planning team
• Assess and determine development applications in line with legislation and internal KPIs
• Provide expert planning advice to stakeholders
• Facilitate pre-lodgement meetings and strategic planning initiatives
• Represent Council in legal proceedings, including the NSW Land and Environment Court
• Monitor and improve internal planning processes
• Prepare high-quality reports and contribute to budget planning

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in statutory planning within local government
• Strong knowledge of NSW planning legislation
• Proven ability to assess complex development applications
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Current Class C driver's licence

Desirable:

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or related field
• Experience mentoring or supervising staff
• Experience in planning appeals and court representation
• Eligibility for membership with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA)
