The opportunity
The Business Intelligence (BI) Lead is a key poition of the Technology team responsible for developing and leading the organisation's business intelligence capabilities across the Microsoft Azure data platform. This role spans the full BI development lifecycle—including data engineering, data modelling, ETL/ELT pipelines, visualisation, reporting, and data support services.
You will partner with various business departments to deliver actionable insights that drive data-informed decision-making, performance improvement, and innovation. The role also provides leadership in maturing our data governance, quality, and data integration practices to support scalable and secure analytics delivery.
Success in this position will be underpinned by a customer centric approach, effective stakeholder engagement, and the ability to strategically manage, prioritise, and optimise internal team, resources, and systems.

What you will bring to the role
- Proven leadership in BI initiatives with a pragmatic and agile approach, ensuring high availability and cost-effective solutions.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure DevOps, Data Factory, and Azure SQL Databases.
- Expertise in Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric, with a strong track record of delivering insightful and scalable reporting solutions.
- Demonstrated experience supporting complex, Tier One enterprise applications in high-availability environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity.
- Excellent time management and multitasking capabilities, with a methodical and organised approach to work.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently without direct supervision, while also being a collaborative team player.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders and build long-term professional relationships.
- Proven ability and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and adapting to evolving business needs.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in the IT industry, with a solid background in Microsoft technologies and application support.
Desirable:
- Strong SQL development and support skills, including SQL Server, T-SQL, SSRS, and SSIS.
- Experience in data warehousing, database administration, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with integration technologies, trends, and architectural considerations.
- Experience with IT security best practices, Active Directory, Windows security, and domain administration.
- Exposure to web application architecture and its core components.
- Working knowledge of release and change management processes and frameworks such as ITIL (preferably practitioner certified).
- Ability to produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Experience supporting ERP, Clinical Management, HR/Payroll, and Time & Attendance systems.
