Principal Engineer

We're looking for a seasoned technical leader to drive architecture, design, and delivery excellence across our data engineering practice with the aim of creating a solution that meets the customer requirements and solution that is implemented to industry and Versent standards..
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable data architectures on Azure and Microsoft Fabric
- Translate business requirements into secure, high-performance data solutions
- Develop and maintain enterprise-grade data pipelines, lakehouses, and warehouses
- Guide and mentor engineering teams through code reviews, technical training, and best practices
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical scope and delivery approach
- Drive adoption of best-in-class engineering practices and Versent standards
- Contribute to client deliverables, Statements of Work, RFPs, and open-source initiatives
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and capability development of engineers
- Ensure data observability, governance, and CI/CD practices are embedded in all solutions
Required Skills
- 10+ years of data engineering experience with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure and Fabric
Expertise in:
Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric Pipelines
- Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Fabric Lakehouses and Warehouses
- Real-time streaming (Azure Event Hubs, Kafka, Fabric Real-Time Analytics)
- Data ingestion, transformation with PySpark, Spark Jobs, Fabric Notebooks
- Dimensional data modeling (Data Vault 2.0, Star Schema)
- CI/CD using Azure DevOps (Git, Pipelines)
- Strong coding skills in Python / PySpark, Java / Scala, SQL
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, Miro)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Certifications (one or more preferred):
Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Fabric Data Engineer Associate / Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
- Databricks Data Engineer Professional
