Principal Process Engineer

Type: Contractor

Location: preferably Perth (WA)

Reporting to: Study Manager

Role

This is a technical leadership role responsible for the development of an optimised flowsheet to PFS level requirements for a WA based ionic clay hosted rare earths project.

It includes test work review and interface and coordination, process definition, selection and interface with technology providers and precision process equipment vendors, deliverable reviews, study report input. The Principal Process Engineer clears testwork bottlenecks and drives successful outcomes that exceed project objectives.

In general, the Principal Process Engineer is responsible for selection of the optimum process route for the project, leading to the next stage DFS.

This is a client-facing role, working closely with the Study Manager and external mining , environmental consultants, metallurgical testwork providers, vendors to help develop Process Deliverables to the appropriate level of definition, to study duration deadlines.

This is a critical role in the project team and requires timely risk-based decision making to ensure robustness of the CAPEX and OPEX in a limited study timeline. The role will require input to a Project Risk and Opportunity Register, to capture gaps /opportunities,  and include client recommendations for future studies.

The role includes close interface and coordination with Mincore's Melbourne and Hanoi offices.

Requirements

·       Minimum 15 years of relevant experience

·       Hydromet experience essential

·       Acid leach, acid recovery, impurity removal experience will be well regarded

Responsibilities/Tasks

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·       Process Scope management

·       Testwork leadership, review and coordination with client and consultants

·       Input and review of Process deliverables including PFDs, PDC, Mass Balance, Water Balance etc

·       Review SysCAD inputs/outputs

·       MEL development and sizing of process equipment

·       Review of equipment bids and selection of preferred process equipment

·       Input to plant layout

·       Input to CAPEX and OPEX development

·       Input to PFS Report – Testwork and Process Plant Chapters
