Sedgman is proud to offer the position of Principal Structural Engineer to join our team in Perth. In this role you will coordinate and direct the Structural Engineering function across our minerals processing and supporting site infrastructure projects in studies, design, and supporting the delivery of projects both in Australia and across the globe.

What does the role involve?

You will oversee the structural team to conduct a range of technical services, covering all activities from client interaction, project development/preliminary design, detail design, construction support & commissioning in line with safety, schedule, budget and quality parameters for mining processing facilities and associated infrastructure.

You will report to the Engineering Manager and be in the leadership group for the team. At a high level, you can expect to:

• Co-ordinate project structural design activities to ensure the delivery of a product that meets quality, safety and client requirements within the project's budget.
• Supervise the work of Design Engineers to ensure compliance with technical specifications and Sedgman standards
• Interact closely with Designers to produce models and oversee/conduct detailed concrete and steel design for variety of mining and process infrastructure
• Lead with integrity and accountability, performance managing, mentoring, coaching, training, recruiting and retaining fulfilled and high performing team members.
• Prepare budgets, time schedules and resourcing of work for management approval and manage assigned projects for quality and change.
• Support Project Development activities through the concept setting and review process, and communication with existing and potential clients.
• Work closely with the Engineering leadership team to ensure a united multidiscipline approach to providing engineering solutions and resolving complex problems.
• Drive collaboration with Sedgman business units (including business development, projects, commissioning, operations) and regional engineering groups ensuring consistent, quality and appropriate engineering outcomes.
• Use effective interpersonal skills in working with others to build successful working relationships.
• Networking through the industry to ensure existing contacts are maintained and new contacts are made as the industry changes.

Ideally you will bring:

• Bachelor or Masters of Structural Engineering
• Strong technical foundation in Structural Engineering delivery in the Metals and Minerals Processing industries
• Knowledge of construction methodologies and sequencing
• Experience as a Lead or Principal Engineer in design/consultancy and construction environments in metals and minerals processing
• Experience with managing teams of designers and engineers and collaborating with vendors and construction team
• Effective leadership capability, coaching and mentoring skills
  Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers is highly valued
